  1. Hi,

  3. I noticed the arrival of losetup and downloaded it right away (I just
  4. had to try). I installed it, and tried that little example mentioned in
  5. the man page (creating a 100K ext2 image and mounting it). It worked
  6. perfectly. :-)

  8. Then I tried copying a 1.44Mb dos-floppy image to the HD and tried
  9. loopmounting that. Again it worked perfectly.
  10.  
  11. The I tried mounting my ADFS disk, and then loopmounted the root-rpc
  12. disk I had located in $.ARMLinux. This too worked perfectly.

  14. Now I had to try the real test. I loop-mounted my dos-image file located
  15. in $.PC486.drive_c. It failed. Doh!

  17. The mount phase failed. The losetup /dev/loop0 /mnt/adfs/PC486.drive_c
  18. did not complain. Mount complains about not being a msdos filesystem or
  19. a bad superblock (I think it was superblock).

  21. I tried creating other dos-image files, formatting them in various ways,
  22. but they all failed.

  24. Then I was looking into a way to create a dos-image file on my ext2 disk
  25. but I could not. mkdosfs complains about not being able to determine the
  26. geometry of the image file. I understand that, but how do I tell mkdosfs
  27. that?

  29. I guess that the image-file create by !PCConfig isn't exactly as mount
  30. -t msdos/vfat wants it. Can I correct that?
